soul.net is an interactive performance that invites audience members to wrestle with what it means to be human amidst rapid technological advancements. audience members are invited as beta-testers to train an a.i. named soul.friend about human connection using collaborative tasks varying in ethical, philosophical, and physical complexity. as soul.friend studies the processes of collaboration and problem-solving and attempts to emulate them, the piece celebrates what is manifestly human through the laughter, conversations, and sense of spontaneous community shared by the audience.
